5 Winter Travel Tips Every FLY Mom Should Know

It is coooooold out there y’all! And in some places (like “Hotlanta”), you’re getting hammered with snow and extremely cold temperatures you never expected. But sometimes, even a little bit of snow can’t stop or prevent you from having to travel with little ones. I thank God that I don’t have to travel anywhere in the cold with my little ones, but I know some people who do. And I’m sure I will need to heed this advice in the future. So I’m excited about this guest post from my friend Kirstin over at Passenger 156. Check out her 5 easy tips to make your family winter travel just a little less stressful!

Here are 5 FLY Mom Winter Travel Tips!

In some regions of the country, winter still has its grip on us.  Especially on the East Coast where we have experienced temperatures that felt like -10 and 3-5 inches of snow (or more).  We have a few easy to follow tips for our ‘FLY Moms’ to make sure that your winter travels with the family are totally stress free.

blackfamilyonPlane1. Tune into the national weather forecasts.

Be sure to check the travel advisories of your airline regularly for delays/cancellations. Also check the airlines rescheduling policies for weather related events.

2. Print confirmation.

In addition to having all of your confirmations, directions, airline numbers, hotel information & phone number stored in your smart phone or tablet, print paper copies. You may run out of cell phone power or be unable to recharge and that paper copy will come in handy.

3. Pack your daily essentials in your carry-on bag, purse or tote bag.

This should include medicines, a freshen up kit (deodorant, face wipes, travel toothbrush-toothpaste & mouthwash etc.), all power cords for re-charging your electronics and a few snacks and power bars {pack enough for a few days…you never know}. If you are stranded in the airport and the airline does not give you a complimentary night in a hotel you’ll be angry but prepared. (LOL)

4. File your claims asap!

If your trip/flight is cancelled due to the weather, file your claims with your airline/travel insurance provider as soon as possible for faster reimbursements.

5. Pack your patience!

Remember you’re not alone in this situation and it’s pretty much out of your control. Airline agents can be your friend or your arch enemy, so be nice (or try to be anyway LOL) and stress less!

Remember that you’re traveling to get away from your daily stress. Don’t worry about the hand that winter weather has dealt you on your trip.  Always…Be Happy.  Be Fabulous.  Be Well Traveled.
