Happy March!! Boy am I glad to welcome March and hopefully some warmer weather, lol. Although judging by today here in Toronto, it seemed winter was trying to make a point that it’s not ready to leave us just yet. All good, it can’t hold on forever, hehehe. Yesterday also marked the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday, and many decide to focus on what’s really important in life and do away with the more frivolous aspects of life.
Nothing wrong with a little (or a lot) of the bling life has to offer, but sometimes we get so consumed with material things that we don’t even realize the hold it has on us. Even more so we often unintentionally pass it down to our kids. It’s obviously possibly to have a lot and still be able to raise humble and appreciative children. But I know my son feels like no Nickelodeon is a form of punishment. Could only imagine what giving up his PlayStation for 40 days would feel like, lol.

Even though I don’t observe Lent, I think there are times that we can all learn to give out of our overflow. When I see children donating toys that they no longer use, I get so touched. To learn generosity at a young age, when the majority is still stuck on “mine, mine, mine” is definitely heart warming. And as the law of reciprocity would have it, it’s rewarding too.
So this month of March I’m challenging us to take the focus off ourselves. Not completely of course, but just enough to be a blessing to somebody else. It doesn’t even have to be material. You can give your time, your skill, or whatever is in your heart to share. It’s all about simply reaching out and “Marching” forward. See what I did there? Lol.
