Motivational Monday: Believe in You

When it comes to going after what you truly want in life, asking for it is one thing, and believing in it is something completely different. Last week I shared some key tips and scriptures that Steve Harvey shared which were critical to him achieving the success that he has experienced, and continues to experience.

When I first started blogging, I had no clue what I was doing and only had one purpose: to grow my platform so when I started whatever business I wanted to start, I would have an audience to share it with. I heard of these great opportunities that bloggers would get but deep down, I didn’t believe that I would be one of “them”. But my 2014 was definitely an indication of how wrong I was.

Even when I decided to start my business, it was something that sounded nice. But when I looked at so many other incredible women doing what I wanted to do, I realized I was asking for something I didn’t believe in. I’ll never forget having a conversation with someone and them saying, “how can we expect others to believe in what we have to give when we don’t believe in it ourselves?” This was my lightbulb moment.

I had to learn to do some mindset work (and continue to do it regularly) to diminish the negative chatter that tends to reside between my brain cells. I realized that when you really believe in yourself and what you’re doing, your confidence (not arrogance as there’s a thin line there) shines through. When you’re confident in yourself and your capabilities, those around you will connect to that. If you can then instill that same confidence in them, the sky is the limit.

Another thing Mr. Harvey shared at the conference was the importance of the three steps in order to achieve success:

Ask – it’s as simple as asking God for what you want

Believe – once you make the ask, you’ve got to believe with all your heart that it can be done (the how is not important here).

Receive – prepare to receive what you ask for, get things in line and act as though you’ve already received it.

You are what you believe. And the best thing I ever did was believe in me. So I hope that you will believe in you.

How do you combat doubt and lack of belief and replace it with confidence and belief?

love this! Ask Believe and Receive!! And confidence. People often look at those w confidence and achieving their goals as being cocky but no. Having confidence and going after your goals is commendable!

Thanks Nadeen! That is absolutely correct, love it! The easy part is usually in the ask, but often times do we really believe we can have what we ask for? 😉

Combating negativity is a constant battle. It’s just a human tendency to compare yourself to others and to lack appreciation for where you are in life. I’m glad that I am open to working on myself being I want to live a positive life.

So true LaShon, in order to live a positive life, we can’t constantly compare ourselves to others.

Belief like charity must start at home. Ifree we want 8th Era to buy into our vision, business and plans, we must learn to believe our own hype.

I always look forward to your Motivational Monday. I have self doubt all the time but I’ve been dealing by praying and keeping myself so busy that I don’t have time to think. I no longer try to be perfect. I used to spend so much time thinking about something in her actually do it. Now I think and I deal after.
