How To Stay On Track To Achieve Your 2016 Goals

Stay on track goals planning

Can you guys believe we’re already in the last week of February? I remember hearing some people saying that January was a trial month, or a warm-up month if you will, to getting their resolutions and goals in order. What would those same people have to say about February? What would be the excuse now? Lol. Hopefully, you’re well on your way and you have a roadmap to get you to where you want to be by December.

I recently caught a Scope (aka Periscope) of blogger Mattieologie on the system she uses to accomplish her goals, and I found it very useful, particularly if you’re a visual person. What she does is sort everything out using different color post-it notes and creates a hierarchy/pyramid of tasks.

At the very top (using one color post-it) she writes down her ultimate goal. It could be, have my own fashion/makeup line, be the number one blogger in Virginia, earn $1 million, etc. Whatever the ultimate end goal is, and when you want to achieve it by.

Below that she breaks down what she needs to do annually to help achieve that, on different color post-its. It might be different from year 1 to year 3, but knowing the annual goals that support achieving the ultimate goal. Below that she has her monthly goals using another color post-its, and so on and so forth. Beyond monthly goals, you might choose to use a calendar, or at least, I would. Although I consider myself a visual person, I’d have too many post-its, bordering clutter in my eyes, which equals unproductive.

The point of this is that you now know what you need to get done. Look at it daily, and if an opportunity comes around, regardless of how great it might be, that doesn’t support anything written on your post-its, it’s (in theory) easier to now say no.

If you were one of those who found it hard to say no, you now have a visual reminder and motivator to say no. And if you’re asked why (not that you need to explain yourself) you can confidently say, “it doesn’t align with my goals.” For the last month of Q1, let’s do everything we can to stay motivated and focused on our 2016 goals.

How are you coming along with your 2016 goals? What has been most challenging thus far?

This is a great reminder for me to stay focused on my goals for 2016! Being disciplined has allowed me to focus and as you mentioned makes it easy for me to say no to opportunities that do not line up with your goals.

I love this Violette! Clarity is so key, especially when it comes to being able to say no to opportunities that might look good, but not necessarily be good for you or your business at that present time.
