Moms As Entrepreneurs (MAE) Conference

The Moms As Entrepreneurs (MAE) Conference is coming to Morgan State University in Baltimore, and I’m honored to be a featured panelist for this event!

During the MAE conference, current and aspiring business owners who are moms will participate in a resource filled day including workshops that will focus on four areas:

The Art of Balance

 Creating and Sustaining External & Internal Teams

Financial Planning and

Health and Wellness.

From the Press Release: Moms Going to Morgan State University to Build their Business

BALTIMORE – On September 27, 2014 on the campus of Morgan State University one of the most empowering, success driving events will be held, the Moms as Entrepreneurs (MAE) Conference. The MAE (MAE pronounced “MA”) Conference is set out to provide moms with the necessary tools to become successful entrepreneurs.

Knowing the struggles of a mother and an entrepreneur first-hand, the co organizers–Tammira Lucas owner of Ryann’s Closet & Jasmine Simms owner of Scrub Nail Boutique,  could not find resources dedicated to helping moms balance being a mom, an entrepreneur and an active participate in other community activities.  So they created a conference to help moms as entrepreneurs. The MAE Conference will be a day filled with encouragement and resources for moms to build their enterprise in relations with other areas of her life. Current and aspiring business owners who are moms will participate in a resource filled day including workshops, panel discussions, and a pitch competition. Five MAEs will have an opportunity to pitch their business during the conference. The winning MAE will receive funding and business mentoring for one year. Throughout the conference, three MAEs will be recognized for their work in business, family, and community.

There will be an abundance of opportunity and networking for rising and current MAE’s, along with other tools that can be used through the year to further build their enterprise in other areas of life. And most importantly you don’t want to miss the enlightening presentations of our wonderful experienced workshop presenters.

The Moms As Entrepreneurs conference is sponsored by Morgan State Universities’ Entrepreneurial Development & Assistance Center (EDAC).  “I know the challenges that moms face as entrepreneurs.  My mother operated a successful business and raised along with my father, five children.  I’m glad to see an initiative that will further help moms balance life with business,” says Omar S. Muhammad, EDAC director.

Moms As Entrepreneurs mission is to connect moms who are entrepreneurs to resources to build on their enterprise in relations with other areas of her life. MAE is a support system providing aspiring and existing mother entrepreneurs with the inspiration, resources and networks to excel in their family, career, community, and social life. We serve women and mother-owned businesses in need of business strategy, guidance, and work-life balance.
