Natural Remedies For Stress And Pain

Natural Remedies For Stress And Pain

Being a mom can be stressful. We juggle several tasks daily and if we don’t take time out for ourselves we will eventually become a stressed messed. I love reading the inspirational quote “You Can’t Pour From An Empty Cup“. I’m certainly guilty of this. My stress was causing widespread inflammatory pain and anxiety. I knew something had to change in order for me to become the best version of ME.

I started reading about natural remedies because I was having side effects from the pain medication prescribed by my doctors. I have suffered from Fibromyalgia for over 20 years. Stress can have negative effects on your body such as  chest pain, chronic fatigue, sleep deprivation, tension, muscle and joint pain and digestive problems. If you suffer from Fibromyalgia, Lupus, and other; stress can cause these disorders to flare up. Below you will find a few natural remedies that I find effective when I’m dealing with stress, fatigue and pain.

Lavender oil: Lavender oil benefits include lowering distress and reducing anxiety. You can add a few drops to your bath, massage oil or put a few drops in an aromatic diffuser.

Massage therapy: Massages ease pain, increases blood circulation, lowers heart rate and blood pressure. (Tip: Check with your insurance company to see if they cover a therapeutic massage)

Epsom salt: Also known as magnesium sulfate. When dissolved in warm water Epsom salt is absorbed through the skin. It replenishes the magnesium in our bodies that we lose when we are stressed. Epsom salt helps eliminate toxins, ease pain and relieve inflammation.

I’m including a simple DIY detoxing bath salt that you can easily make at home or give as gifts.

1 cup of Epsom salts
1/2 cup of baking soda
1/2 cup of dead sea salt (optional – just add more Epsom salt if you don’t have it)
10 drops of lavender oil
5 drops of peppermint oil
1 tsp of lavender buds (optional)

Mix all the ingredients together and add to a warm bath. Soak for at least 20 minutes. This recipe yields enough for one to two baths.
