C: How are you able to keep your sense of humor and stay true to yourself and to your faith with all that you have going on?
Jenna: I think reading other mom blogs and other Catholic blogs has really helped me keep my sense of humor about things. It’s really easy being a SAHM to think that you’re the only one going through something. When you read other mom blogs and you see that they’re going through the same exact thing, and they can have a sense of humor about it, then you can laugh about it too knowing you’re not alone and ‘this too shall pass’. So the biggest help has been joining a community of bloggers and hearing about their lives as well.
C: What was your favorite first-time mommy moment?
Jenna: It was probably when we came home the very first night with her from the hospital. We had taken our dresser and set it up with the changing pad, wipes, diapers. We also set up her pack-and-play in our room so we could try to get as much sleep as possible. I remember waking up the next morning thinking ‘What just happened’? I even took pictures of it because it was just a crazy scene: comforters and sheets everywhere, dirty diapers on the floor, spit up coming down the dresser, the garbage bag overflowing. We just couldn’t believe all of that happened in one night! So that’s when we looked at each other and realized ‘Wow, this is real’ [laughs].
C: What are you looking forward to the most with your second baby on the way?
Jenna: What I’m probably looking forward to the most is for Ellen to have someone to play with. Sometimes I just feel so bad for her because we don’t have a lot of friends in this area. We’ve only been here for a year and we’re already leaving next month. So we try to get her involved in different activities just to get her out and socialize. But it will be really nice for her to have a playmate at home to keep her entertained, and to also learn things like the fact that she’s not the center of the universe [laughs]. I’m excited to see them interact with each other, just two beings that I have unconditional love for.
