Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and just in time to add to your celebrating is Disney’s new animated movie Coco which hits theatres TODAY! Just like Thanksgiving is all about family, join Coco on his journey to discover his own ancestral history in a way that’s never been told before. If you’re not convinced, watch this new trailer which is sure to convince you.
Entertain the Little Ones
If you’re looking to have the little ones entertained while you’re busy in the kitchen preparing your Thanksgiving dinner, try one of these coloring sheets of Miguel, Hector, or Ernesto. Or why not have the kids join you in the kitchen and try out this Mexican inspired recipe, Pan de Muerto. Food always has a way of bringing everyone together, which is in part what makes Thanksgiving so special.
Family History Appreciation
Although every family may have its drama with everyone gathered under one roof, appreciation for where you come from is important. We don’t have the opportunity like Miguel in the movie to travel to a time and place where ancestors are able to share their experiences. That is why taking the time to allow our children to know their history now is so important. Why not start by making a Family Tree? Here’s an illustration with space for your child to fill in their names and that of the 3 prior generations. It’s a great activity to get the conversation going on where they come from.
As much as food and family play an intrinsic part of Thanksgiving, it’s fair to say everyone isn’t close to their family. However, that doesn’t mean you don’t have anything to be thankful for. I hope this Thanksgiving allows you to realize and count your blessings. Regardless of the circumstance, we at Moms N Charge wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!
