Waiting for the Next Door in Your Life to Open

Until God opens the next door

There’s a quote I’m sure you’ve heard that says “Until God opens the next door, praise Him in the Hallway.” This is quote that I often hear but don’t practise as often. So I thought I’d take the opportunity to remind myself and hopefully encourage you along the way.

GOOD OL’ DAYS

When a door closes in our lives, something good comes to an end, it is only human nature to miss that which was. However spending too much dwelling on the good ol’ days can actually hinder you from seeing the and experiencing the good new days. Another great quote from one of my online mentors says “God will never let what you lost be the best you ever had.” Isn’t that reassuring?

CHANGE YOUR FOCUS

However as true as that statement may be, waiting isn’t always easy. I don’t know about you, but whenever I find myself waiting for someone, I occupy my time by getting on my phone. Be it catching up on social media, or playing a silly game, it helps pass the time. I think that is sort of the same thing when we focus on praising God in the hallway. It removes the focus from the fact that the next door hasn’t opened yet. And if you get a really good praise session going, you might forget you’re in the “hallway” altogether.

I think it’s important to just stop and appreciate once in a while. I know with all the craziness going on it might seem like there’s little to appreciate. But I also know that we are very fortunate people. The door you’re waiting to open might be a new job, a new career, a new man, or a breakthrough of any sort; and it will come. Praise simply has a way to make you see clearer and the answer you’re waiting for will soon enough be in arms reach.

Stay blessed!
